Property Description

LAKE MEDORA 6.1+/- ACRE PARCEL WITH 2,398+/- FEET OF FRONTAGE FOR SALE! Lake Medora is a 695 acre all-sports inland lake situated in Eagle Harbor Township, in Keweenaw County, at the northern tip of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Keweenaw is the smallest county in the State in both population and land area. But it is the largest in total area, because it includes waters of Lake Superior. It is “At the End of The Road”, at the northern terminus of US Highway 41. Highway 41 is over 2000 miles long, passes through eight States, and the southern end is in Miami, Florida. Lake Medora is located on US 41, approximately 4.5 miles south of Copper Harbor. This scenic lake is surrounded completely by dense forest that has lots of wildlife. The majority of the shoreline is privately owned, but there is a public Launch Site on the south side, off of Highway 41. There are a few picturesque islands that are fun to paddle to. Lake Medora water depths vary from shallow to about 26 feet, with most of the lake being less than 25 feet in depth. The bottom consist of shallow flat shoals, sand, gravel, rock rubble, and rock outcrops – the deep water is under laid by peat. There is lots of forested natural shoreline and islands in this lake. This lake supports a fishery of Smallmouth Bass, Yellow Perch, and Walleye. It is an artificial lake formed by damming of the Mosquito River in the 1860's to supply water-power to the Keweenaw Copper Company's Medora Copper Mine. If you enjoy hiking, the lake is surrounded by miles of trail that reach out from the lake in several directions. The trails can be accessed of the Medora Road, and from the Washington Mine Road. The lake has five trail heads which are accessible for Hiking, Mountain Biking and ATV use. The beautiful parcel offered for sale is a peninsula on the eastern side of the lake, and has 2,398+/- feet of frontage ... (For Additional Remarks - Please Request Associated Documents)
